Infinity War Trailer Breakdown

Marvel has outdone itself… again. After the trailer release of Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel fanatics have plenty to cheer about and look forward to. Over the last ten years, Marvel has developed numerous superheroes across the Cinematic Universe, releasing movies centered around Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans). However, Marvel has also released movies featuring other superheroes such as the Hulk, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant Man, Thor, and Spiderman. In addition to these featured films, Marvel sporadically released additions to the Avengers series; these are the movies all Marvel fans wait for. Now, after seeing sneak peeks of Thanos in cameos or post-credit scenes, fans will finally see The Avengers take on Thanos in Infinity War as Thanos looks to finish his quest for all six infinity stones. And by looking the first trailer of Infinity War, it is almost inevitable that Thanos will succeed… to a certain extent. Let’s break it down:

#1. Tony is grieving over a loss

In one of the opening shots of the trailer, Tony looks like he is grieving over a loss. It’s difficult to tell if someone close to him has passed away, but it doesn’t look like he is holding his own hand. It’s atypical to see Tony in this type of emotional state, so it’s likely he has lost someone very close to him. This means Pepper or Peter may have died, but Peter is the future of the Marvel franchise, so it’s unlikely that Tony is mourning over his death.
#2. Vision is no longer exactly Vision

Vision has gained the ability to look humanlike, but the Mind stone still glows. Since his last appearance in Civil War, he has further developed his relationship with Wanda.

#3. Thor and the Asgardians encounter Thanos first

In one of the post credit scenes of Thor: Ragnarok, the fleeing Asgardian ship encounters the Sanctuary, Thanos’ ship. This perfectly sets up Infinity War as Thor will most likely face Thanos or the Black Order before the other Avengers.
#4. There is another battle in New York City

New York, New York… The Avengers will face an extraterrestrial power in the Big Apple once again. Realistically, this location makes sense as the Avengers headquarters moved to upstate New York, and the Sanctum Sanctorum is located in Greenwich Village, but a change of scenes would have been nice.

#5. Spidey has gained the sixth sense

Peter Parker, the youngest member of The Avenger squad, finally showcases his Spidey Sense. As one of Thanos’ presumed ships stations itself in the New York skyline, Peter’s hairs on his arms stand up; he senses imminent danger.

#6. Loki offers the Tesseract to Thanos

Again, Thor: Ragnarok perfectly sets up Infinity War. At the end of Ragnarok, as Loki enters Odin’s chambers to resurrect Surtur with the eternal flame, he notices the Tesseract. Knowing Loki, he must be playing the role of a double agent once again. After taking the Tesseract, Loki must have contacted Thanos, to fulfill the plan he failed to execute in the first Avengers film. This explains why Thanos’ Sanctuary encounters the fleeing Asgardian ship in Ragnarok. In Infinity War, Loki will offer the Tesseract to Thanos.

#7. Peter upgrades his gear

After refusing to take the iron Spider-Man suit in Spider-Man: Homecoming, it looks like Peter changed his mind which is probably for the better,as he lacks the strength to take on Thanos in comparison to the other Avengers.

#8. Thor builds a new weapon

It was surprising to see how easily Hela destroyed Thor’s classic hammer, Mjolnir, in Thor: Ragnarok. However, Thor inherits some of Odin’s abilities when Odin peacefully passes away. In Infinity War, Thor could be constructing a new weapon, perhaps another hammer, as it appears like he is absorbing the power of a dying star.

#9. Fugitive Captain America is now Nomad

Cap is no longer Captain America. In Infinity War, he will be also be known as Nomad according the comics. Dressed in Wakandan gear, Cap is officially a fugitive, but he longer is fighting off foreign enemies who threaten the safety of Americans. He’ll be defending the universe from Thanos.

#10. Hulk has the Hulkbuster suit

In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Tony used the Hulkbuster armor to stop Banner from tearing Johannesburg to pieces, but looking at the Infinity War trailer, Banner could be in the suit himself. This makes the Hulk even more indestructible.
#11. Vision loses the mind stone

Someone steals Vision’s mind stone. Looking at the shape and color of the scepter, one of the members of the Black Order, Corvus Glaive, could be stealing this Infinity stone.

#12. Thanos gains multiple Infinity stones

As Thanos lifts up his Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos is revealed with at least two of the Infinity stones: the Space stone (Tesseract) and the Power stone. Assuming Corvus steals the mind stone from Vision, Thanos will gain control of at least three out of the six Infinity stones.

#13. The Avengers fight in Wakanda

The ultimate battle between the Avengers and Thanos’ army will take place in Wakanda. Captain leads his fellow Avengers (Bucky, Black Widow, Black Panther, War Machine, Falcon, and the Hulk) as well as the Wakandan army in this classic Avenger shot.

#14. Thor encounters the Guardians of the Galaxy

The Guardians of the Galaxy have become some of the most beloved members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although they are unorthodox superheroes, their team has a unique sense of humor and fun. Marvel fans must be excited to see Thor encounter the Guardians.
