End of the Year Club Summary

As we near the end of another school year, let’s take a moment to appreciate what truly sets Wheatley apart—our unique culture. Our school year is a tapestry woven with integral events, each thread representing the shared experiences that keep our students motivated, even through the challenges of low test scores and looming deadlines. The collective efforts of our various student organizations—WTC, EAC, ICU, and Vintage —bring these events to life, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility that is truly unique to Wheatley.

One of the most vibrant in-school events is ICU’s annual Luncheon, a joyous celebration where parents, teachers, and students come together to ensure its success. This event is not just a testament to the diversity that defines our school, but also a platform where this diversity is celebrated in all its colorful glory. It’s a day when we can all come together, share our cultures, and learn from one another, making it a truly special event in our school year.

According to my personal opinion, Earth Day is my favorite. However, I’ve never been to an EAC meeting, which I admit I am ashamed of. Earth Day always tends to fall on the perfect day. The weather becomes warmer, and the sun starts to peek through the clouds and shine its rays on the booths scattered around the courtyard. Earth Day is also always my first sunburn of the year, equating to incoming springtime.

Tri-M and WTC have collaborated in the past few productions such as the recent Beauty and the Beast production. With WTC’s talented cast and stage crew combined with Tri-M’s masters of music, Beauty and the Beast had every audience member in awe. Yearly, WTC puts its heart and soul into two productions, this year we were blessed with Alice in Wonderland, a whimsical tale, and Beauty and the Beast, a romantic story—props to WTC for pulling off two productions in the span of one school year representing different themes.

A Wheatley school year is incomplete without Tri-M’s monthly musical additions to our school. From roses sent by secret admirers on Valentine’s Day, to holiday caroling, our school is always filled with melodies serenading students and teachers alike.

Various clubs dedicate time and energy to planning many events, some even bringing members together for community service outside school, such as book club. Our student organizations may not have as much manpower as other schools or as much funding, but we have club names in acronyms. Jokes aside, Wheatley students, new and old, reap the benefits of our students organizing events year-round and as the year ends, make sure to continue showing up to club meetings and showing interest! There are clubs for virtually every topic and hobby. If you are interested in a subject or hobby, we might even have a class for said hobby, such as Henao’s comic book class in SWS. Don’t be afraid to seek out other students with common interests too!
