All About Wheatley’s Video Club

Have you ever seen an Instagram reel of a Wheatley sports game or clips of the play? If so, that was presented by the Video Club, who does what they do best to put out content for you!

What is Video Club?

Video Club is a community where creativity runs wild and ideas flow. Filming sports, short films, or interviews, Video Club is continuously working hard to bring the energy and enthusiasm of school events to life. Having previously filmed pep rallies, plays and more, Video Club has a lot in store for the 2024-2025 school year.

None of this could be done without the hard work and dedication of the video club members. Along with their Co-Presidents, Phoebe Qian & Arikah Goher, Vice President, Ayden Wuennemann, and last but not least, Club Advisor Mr. Hurley. A special thank you for working hard everyday to lead and organize video club.

Here is what Ayden Wuennemann, the Vice President of Video Club has to say:

Q: Why is Video Club something people should be interested in?

A: Overall I think that video club is a great club. It interests people who are creative and specifically people that want to be writers who can participate in our script writing program. Along with people that strive to be in the filming industry, and more.

Q: Why is Video Club important in the outside world?

A: It gives a way for filmmakers to express themselves in ways that are limited in many places, it is important to have a club where you are able to connect with the same people with the same interest.

Q: What are you doing in the Video Club right now?

A: Right now we are setting up for the winter season because we film our sports games (away and home) the whole season for our sports highlight film. We are looking into many short film competitions, as well as more interviews because we want to start filming for the news more regularly. We are also reaching out to the drama club to follow the play.

Q: What are some of Video Club’s goals?

A: We are hoping to film over 10 short films this year, produce sports highlights, document every event the school does such as tech nights and the club fair. Also, teach editing, and post on our  youtube channel.

Q: What kinds of videos do you guys film?

A: We mostly film short films and sports but we also film edited versions of the plays, orchestra concerts and important events like pep rallies.

Q: What are some past videos that were filmed?

A: We just recently filmed our 60 second horror fest film for halloween that we submitted into a competition. In the past we also filmed beauty and the beast, icu day and more.
