New Apple Phones: Worth the Price?

Skyrocketing prices are not new to the tech community, but for the price of a computer, is an iPhone really worth it? Let’s take a look at what’s new. On September 12, Apple announced the new iDevices. Pre-orders for the XS and XS Max, as well as the Apple Watch Series 4, started on September 15, while the iPhone XR will start pre-orders October 19. Here is what you need to know:

New iPhones: XS, XS Max, and the XR

The most affordable new model is the iPhone XR. The XR starts at $749 and goes up to $899. It comes in white, black, blue, yellow, coral, and red. It also features a 6.1-inch screen and a 1792 x 828 resolution, which is slightly better than the iPhone 8. It also has an NFC chip that supports Apple Pay, quicker Bluetooth pairing, and a larger screen. This phone allows a large storage of battery, more than the previous iPhones. However, because it does not have an Organic LED display (OLED), the XR uses more battery. In an OLED display, only the pixels that are used turn on so the blacks are darker and the colors are richer.

Apple has announced three new phones, so what are the other ones?  Two of the new devices are the XS and the XS max. These new phones are not nearly as affordable as the XR, its price going from $1000-$1500. Now, many people would ask why the new phone is so much more expensive than the iPhone XR. Here are the new features in the iPhone XS:

Of course, the iPhone XS has really developed and revolutionized the camera with a better rear camera, autofocus, recording, and more settings to finesse the photo. So if you are someone who wants a phone with the best camera, the iPhone XS is the best for that. However, if you aren’t a big camera person, I wouldn’t recommend spending the money to buy the XS just for the camera.

The XS is bigger than other phones, 143.6 x 70.9 x 7.7 mm, but don’t let that make you dismiss it. It has a gorgeous LED screen that makes it look better when you are looking at it. Apple has really extended the battery life to make it a day or two, which is pretty impressive considering it is a very big phone. Its looks are really out of the ordinary, beautiful and perfect. And of course, as every iPhone is, it has a smooth performance.

The XS max is the same phone as the XS in terms of features. However, its display is much bigger and its pixel density is higher than the XS. The XS Max is also $100 more than the XS. The XS Max is not worth it unless you want a big and expensive phone.

So, are the iPhone XS and the XS Max really worth it? Well, it definitely depends on the person who is going to use the phone. If the  really want to use the camera and take a lot of pictures, the XS is really the phone for you. However, if you don’t really want the camera, the XS is really not the phone for you.  The XS is also extremely expensive, especially considering it doesn’t come with a headphone dongle, a charger, or fast charging cable. So whether or not you go for the latest trend might depend on your budget.
