Have you seen the 2004 Mean Girls movie? Are you a fan of musicals? Then the modern adaption of Mean Girls is perfect for you!
Out in theaters since January 12th, 2024, the new movie features the original plot of the early 2000s film mixed with songs from the Broadway play. Featuring the same story of new student Cady Heron at North Shore High School, this movie received great reviews. Staying with the same plot, the Mean Girls Musical features the same characters, settings, and storyline with a twist of music to convey the message of the film.
All the original characters of the Mean Girls 2004 film are featured in the new adaptation including: Regina George, Karen Smith, Gretchen Wieners, Cady Heron, Damian Leigh, Janice Ian, Aaron Samuels, Principal Duvall, and Ms. Norbury. New actors and actresses took on these iconic roles and in my opinion did an excellent job capturing the individual personalities and roles.
Some actors or actresses that took part in the new Mean Girls movie that particularly stood out in the media were Reneé Rapp who was casted as Regina George, and Christopher Briney as Aaron Samuels. Reneé Rapp also plays Regina in the Broadway adaptation and demonstrates fantastic vocals in her solos and songs in the new movie. Additionally, Christopher Briney is a fan favorite from the TV series The Summer I Turned Pretty, playing Conrad Fisher.
In the original Mean Girls movie, Tina Fey played Ms. Norbury, and in the 2024 adaptation she plays this role once again! In addition, Lindsay Lohan was featured in the Mathletes competition scene, adding a great surprise to the movie, as she played the main character Cady in the 2004 film.
I would recommend watching this movie, especially if you are fan of the original Mean Girls and musical fan! Personally, I enjoyed watching this version and making connections with the original film!
