Influencers: PR and Brand Trips

Influencers are the big thing of TikTok, Instagram, and almost any social media platform. If you don’t know who they are, they are people who make money by posting videos, pictures, etc. on social media. Among these influencers, there are some who make even more than doctors. Some popular influencers are Alix Earle, Charli D’amelio, Khaby Lame, Alex Warren, Addison Rae, and over hundreds more.

Influencers are very controversial, as recently their viewers have started to become more aware about how wealthy they actually are. They are able to provide for their household entirely, causing their significant others to retire. On TikTok, videos have started to be released about how much money a content creator makes compared to a doctor, showing relatively close or even higher numbers. As well as how much money they are making, clothing, makeup, and drink companies have started taking these influences on expensive and luxurious trips, giving them more privilege. Brand trips started around 2022 when Tarte, a very prominent makeup company had a controversial brand trip, flying multiple influencers to Dubai. Asides from the trips, these influencers are also sent free products such as makeup, clothing, food, drinks, etc. This eliminates the cost of having to get new makeup and clothes that most people spend a large portion of money on.

I am not saying that I do not enjoy watching my favorite influencers, but it has become tiring to often hear these people not be grateful for the things they receive. They do not realize that their job is very privileged, and that they are making as much money as other individuals of high professional levels, who spent numerous years of schooling in order to achieve that success.
