Serves: 6
This recipe requires:
- ½ package of puff pastry (you can buy this at a local grocery store in the freezer section)
- A pinch of flour (for the counter)
- 2 apples (red delicious apples are preferred)
- 2 Tbsp of lemon juice
- 1 cup water
- 1 microwave-safe bowl
- 3 Tbsp of apricot or peach jam
- 1 Tbsp of water
- 1 pastry brush
- 1 muffin tin
- Powdered sugar
Directions:
- Thaw puff pastry for 30-45 minutes at room temperature.
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In the bowl, mix the lemon juice and water.
- Take the apples, cut them in half, core & seed them (remove the cores), and slice them in ⅛ in slices, then place the apple slices in the bowl.
- Place the bowl into the microwave and microwave for 1 minute time intervals for 3 minutes, stirring between each minute. The apples should be softer and pliable at the end of the 3 minutes, but not a mush.
- Take the thawed puff pastry out of the box, and place it on top of a lightly floured countertop.
- Use a rolling pin to slightly stretch out the dough.
- Cut the dough horizontally into 6 equally-sized strips.
- **Arrange the apple slices on the dough by placing them so they overlap a little, and the skin part of the apple is showing slightly out of the strip (Look at the diagram down below).
- Take the jam, add the tablespoon of water, mix it together, and microwave for 30 seconds.
- Brush the jam mix onto the apples.
- Fold up the bottom part of the dough.
- Starting from one end of the dough, carefully roll the dough while keeping the apple slices in place. Pinch the edge at the end to seal.
- Grease and/or flour the muffin tin.
- Place the pastry into the muffin tin.
- Repeat for all six and bake in the oven for 35-45 minutes. Check intermittently.
- Cool for 10 minutes and sprinkle with sugar.
- Enjoy!
Make sure that the slices overlap a little!
