“A Star Is Born” is a Hit!

On October 5th, the movie A Star Is Born was released, starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper who produced the movie as well. The movie depicts how country star Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper) helps a young singer named Ally (Lady Gaga) become famous. The movie focuses on substance abuse, the pressures of being famous, the image of beauty in society, and the relationship that forms between Jackson and Ally. Jackson struggles with drug addiction and alcoholism throughout the movie, and it truly effects his career and his relationship with Ally. The music from the movie has become very popular. One song in particular, “The Shallows,” has become a big hit and has been released on iTunes. It was Cooper’s first song to hit number one on iTunes and Gaga’s fourth song to be at the top of the list.

I liked the movie because I enjoyed the music and the storyline. I would give this movie 4 out of 5 stars because I thought that the story was a little unrealistic and too fast moving. The movie received 90% on Rotten Tomatoes and critics who determine this rating stated the following:  “With appealing leads, deft direction, and an affecting love story, A Star Is Born is a remake done right — and a reminder that some stories can be just as effective in the retelling”. The movie was the fourth remake of A Star Is Born,  the original having been released in 1967. Ultimately, the movie was a success; it made over one hundred million dollars in twelve days. Stay tuned to see if the movie is nominated for an Oscar or Grammy and go see it in the movie theatre before it’s too late!
